The US$229 Coolpix S550 has a 5X optical zoom, letting you get that much closer. The US$299 S600 has a larger 2.7-inch LCD, is among the quickest cameras around, has optical vibration reduction, and a 4X 28-112mm optical zoom that lets you shoot wide angle, and you get to go as close as 1.2 inches with the macro.
